What previous students have said about the course
An absolutely fantastic weekend. I was buzzing the whole way home. The sense of independence that I’ve gained from the course is amazing.
I feel like I can tackle projects by myself, I now have a grà for it and can't wait to start a project. It gave me the ability to take things apart in my head and reverse engineer them so that I feel I could make them. The people were amazing too. It was awesome meeting like minded but completely different people with different backgrounds and skills.
Absolutely loved it and would recommend anyone do it to gain the confidence to do things themselves. It made something that was a complete unknown seem simple and doable and gave me a starting point to learn more and know what to search for.

This was truly one of the best experiences I've had in a long time. Before this course I found building and DIY really daunting but it's left me feeling like I could tackle anything and well!
I laughed a lot, I learned a lot and I met some absolutely lovely people. Both a hugely informative and hugely enjoyable weekend!

The Team
The course is led by Paul Lawford. In 2020 Paul quit his city job to sell all of his superfluous possessions and find out, through action, could someone with no previous construction experience build their own home, and could that home be affordable, environmentally sound, functional and beautiful. The answer was yes, and since then Paul has lived in his self-designed and self-built eco tiny house on wheels, immersing himself in various eco and off-grid construction projects since. Paul leads a diverse coaching team of professionals, from carpenters and architects to engineers and gardeners - all with one thing in common: They’ve all also built their own homes.

Further Student Reviews
I’ve never done anything like this before, and wish I’d found it sooner. It was such a supportive, informative and fun experience. Before, loud power tools honestly scared the life out of me. Now I’m looking forward to practicing my skills and eventually building my own home! I can’t believe how much I got out of this weekend.
-Julie, 28, Clare
The course was equal parts enjoyable and educational. At times it was challenging, but you really got out what you put in. I’m excited to return to take on the level 2 course after some practise, and further what I’ve already learned.
- Catherine Lane, 28, Dublin
The Tiny House Build course was an amazing experience! Boosted my skills and confidence with power tools and construction. Instructors were very supportive and knowledgeable. I highly recommend!
-Jo, 34, Dundee, Scotland
Construction often seems like a bit of a boys club. This wasn’t that. The food was great, the coaches were great, the learning was great, the weather was bad, but the craic was mighty as they say! I highly recommend this course.
