FAQ’s
What's the difference between your 1, 2 and 3 day build course?
All of our build courses are beginner friendly and designed to take you from having either rarely or never used a power tool to having the confidence to approach DIY and construction projects on your own.
We cover a huge amount in the 3 day course and its the one we recommend everyone take. The 3 day course is specifically designed to mix practical hands-on 'learning by doing' with less intense tours and demonstrations of 'learning by seeing'. Learning these new skills takes a lot of time, focus and energy for students and this 3 day course is specifically designed and scheduled for you to get the most out of your time.
The 2 day course is an abridged, intensive version of the 3 day course, where we don't cover any waterproofing, insulating or supporting tools beyond the main set (basic saws, hammers, impact drivers and drills).
There's so much we'd love to cover that even 3 days is less than we'd like to have you here to learn but we understand that 3 days can be too much of a time commitment for some, which is why, by request, we're now offering a limited few 2 day courses.
The 1 day course is an opportunity for you to get to grips with the absolute basics and decide if you will then take on a 2 or 3 day course. Its a lower commitment in terms of both time and money that will show you if learning these skills is something you'd like to pursue further.
I have some DIY & construction experience, are the basics courses too easy for me, and do you offer a more advanced course?
If you know the difference between advanced framing and smart framing, if you can frame a stud wall and name each of the components in that wall and their purposes, if you understand the basics of structural loads, and you know how and why to use a breather membrane, then the basics might be too basic for you. If not, then you can gain from the basics course.
We do offer level 2 courses, but only to students who've completed level 1 courses and projects we prescribe after the course as a sort of 'homework'.
